ClearBright™ + Lightboard

Lightboard for UPenn Physics Lectures

Recently, we've been working with University of Pennsylvania Physics professor Bill Ashmanskas on innovating the remote lecture display for his Lightboard. The goal was to create a completely transparent surface that he could use for presentations, writing, and laser pointing – all while keeping a direct connection with his audience given the transparent nature of ClearBright.

So how did professor Ashmanskas put together this setup?

  • ClearBright was installed on a 1/8" thick sheet of clear acrylic which was then attached to the lightboard. ClearBright installed directly to the Lightboard glass doesn't work because it scatters the board's internal lighting.

  • Next, a short throw projector is positioned behind the Lightboard hooked up to a computer with the slide show presentation.

  • To make the slides transparent the background needs to be black. Check out more info in a blog post here.
